Mandeville Animal Hospital will soon begin offering laser therapy, a new, non-invasive pain treatment for your pets. If your pet is feeling pain, has inflammation, or a wound, the laser is a sterile, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment. The laser is used to treat a variety of injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions, numerous dermatological problems, and pain. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma or injury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, the laser has been shown to provide relief and speed healing.
The laser light is delivered through a non-invasive handpiece to treat the affected area. Your pet will feel a gentle and soothing warmth. As the laser is administered, many pets will relax, much like you would experiencing a good massage. The almost immediate relief of pain will allow your pet to be comfortable and any anxiety that your pet initially experienced will dissipate.
The therapy laser system sends photons, or packets of light energy, deep into tissue without damaging it. These photons are absorbed within the mitochondria of the cells and induce a chemical change called “photo-bio-modulation”. This light energy then inspires production of ATP in the cell. ATP is the fuel, or energy, cells need for repair and rejuvenation. Impaired or injured cells do not make this fuel at an optimal rate. Increased ATP production leads to healthier cells, healthier tissue, and healthier animals.
Here at Mandeville Animal Hospital, our mission is to provide the safest and absolute best care for your pets. We believe that every pet has different needs at different times in their lives. Sometimes traditional Western Veterinary Medicine is not the only approach to keeping your pet well or making them feel better. Holistic medicine is an invaluable complement to our routine veterinary practices treating an unlimited number of conditions. We are proud to announce that Dr. Ashley Geoghegan, of VetNaturally, will be performing her specialty services here at Mandeville Animal Hospital. We are very lucky to have her available, so we can provide tailored, individual treatment plans for our patients. Her integrative medical services include, but are not limited to acupuncture, herbal medicine, essential oils, and certified food therapy. Dr. Ledet and Dr. G will work together, uniquely performing Integrative Veterinary Medicine, right here on the Northshore. Dr G will help with our patients, but also takes referrals from other clinics and local specialists.
We are always striving to make your pets stay with us calm and comfortable. We are happy to announce that Mandeville Animal Hospital will now have an 8:00 pm walk and visit for all pets in the hospital. Most Veterinary Clinics and Boarding facilities close at 5:00 pm and the last walk is 5-5:30 pm. Pets shouldn't have to wait 12 hours for a potty break..(and most can't). In an effort to keep the cages cleaner and your pet happier, we have hired an additional night tech to assist us in making our patients and boarders more comfortable!
